When my kids were little, every night they would come running into my bedroom, climb onto my bed, and do their very best to push everyone else out. To this day, I don’t understand why lying in bed, quietly, peacefully reading, seemed to be an open invitation for my babies and later on baby adults to pile on top of me. If they made enough noise, it was like an elk bugle—calling kids from all parts of the house to join in and make me regret not locking the door before I opened my book.
Each of them, whether big or small, was determined to fight with every last ounce of strength to defend their “spot” against all challengers. This was their place, and they belonged in it—while everyone else belonged “out”.
Recently, I was talking with a woman who shared her experience after her mom passed and explained how hard it was to find help with the estate transfer. She actually worked in financial services, but she said, “I just didn’t feel like I belonged. There wasn’t space for me there.”
That hit me hard.
Many of you know I’m passionate about making space for women in finance—and pretty much anywhere else they want to be professionally. But I’m just as passionate about making sure women know they “belong” as clients, too.
Too often, I’ve seen women walk into financial offices only to be met with jargon, complexity, and a room full of people talking at them instead of listening to them. They’re left feeling like outsiders, like they don’t have a place in conversations about their own money, own future, own life.
There is a place for you at the table. No one should make you feel like financial decisions are too complicated or that someone else knows what’s best for your life.
This is your money. Your future. And at Fearless Financial Advisors, you don’t have to fight for your spot, It’s already yours.
