Lorie Jones
So if you had to think back and kind of think of a really great investment you made in yourself, like something that you did that you’re like, oh, my goodness, i’m just I just wouldn’t be where I’m at today without this.
00:13.53
Lorie Jones
What would that be?
00:15.61
Shara Prophet
I would have to say investing in my training 100%, 100%. Investing in my and my hypnotherapy training, as well as the other trainings that I’ve had over time, um because it just opened up so much for me and it helped me to truly understand why things were not working out for me, you know everything that I did. It was just like, you know because I’m a serial entrepreneur. I’ve been an entrepreneur since I’m 19 years old. And it was like great ideas, you know strategies, you know investing in and in this course, in this class, in this book, in this, and and then you know meeting the right people and doing all of the things that we’re told that we need to do in order to be successful. But there was just this roadblock I kept coming up against. and I’m like, okay, this is is something in me.
01:14.74
Shara Prophet
And um investing in that training led me to true self-discovery. And I believe that that was the best possible investment.
01:27.83
Lorie Jones
So did you find out what the something in you was that was not letting you get past that point?
01:33.37
Shara Prophet
there were um There were quite a few things, yes. ah um A lot of it had to do with childhood, you know things that I had to go back into my childhood and revisit and um some belief systems that I had to adjust, some attachments that I had to ideas and people and and things and situations that I had to disconnect from.
01:58.55
Shara Prophet
and not necessarily disconnect from the people, but I had to disconnect from the idea that I held about those people, you know, whether it was putting them on a pedestal or whether there was some resentment or anger toward them.
01:58.75
Lorie Jones
Yeah.
02:13.66
Shara Prophet
And, um and so in that discovery and going back into childhood, there were many things there, you know, and and that was part of My training has shown me how to do that for myself and for others.
02:31.82
Shara Prophet
And so that is priceless, you know, is, is, is, is totally priceless.
02:37.62
Lorie Jones
Yeah.
02:38.66
Shara Prophet
Yeah.
02:39.57
Lorie Jones
It’s so interesting because as I work with clients, a lot of times we go a little bit deeper than just, hey, what’s your budget and what should you invest in? And we talk a lot about where their money stories, where they came from and their values. Because I just, I don’t think you can be a good financial planner unless you understand where your clients are coming from and what they need. And I find it so interesting when we go through that money story, how much of that is deep-seated and rooted in their childhood. And and they haven’t um had the opportunity or even thought about maybe unpacking some of those stories. Like, where did I learn that…
03:23.54
Lorie Jones
um debt was bad or that, um you know, spending made you happy. Like, where where do you get those those ideas from um that are deep-seated and you just take them as complete truth, but that they came from somewhere?
03:40.66
Shara Prophet
Oh yeah, they definitely come from somewhere. Everything, all of our behaviors are learned and and this is the why I tell people, you learned it so therefore you can unlearn it and learn something new.
03:54.93
Lorie Jones
Mm-hmm.
03:55.07
Shara Prophet
That’s the beauty of it. You know, it’s not permanent. It’s not forever, you know, etched upon your soul contract. You know, you can shift it. You can change anything. Everything is constantly moving.
04:08.06
Shara Prophet
You know, everything is vibrating and and moving. And if if it’s moving, that means it can be moved around and it can be manipulated. And so we are blessed to have the authority and the ability to do that.
04:23.03
Shara Prophet
You just have to remember how to do it. And I tell people all time, I’m not teaching you how to do anything. I’m just helping you remember your innate ability to do that, to heal yourself, to do that thing.
04:35.57
Shara Prophet
Sorry, my alarm just went off. I apologize for that. um You know, I just help people remember that they can come back to this place that’s always been within them to, to
04:44.06
Lorie Jones
Yeah, I will.
04:51.45
Shara Prophet
shift and change the dynamic of anything.
04:56.29
Lorie Jones
The tools are already there. You just have to find them. I like that thought. Yeah. What is the worst advice you’ve ever gotten? Like, as you’ve been kind of going through this journey, have you ever gotten some really bad advice? And did you take it or did you not?
05:11.99
Shara Prophet
Yeah. Yeah. Got a lot of bad advice. Um, ah what is the worst advice that I’ve ever gotten? Let’s see so much.
05:23.34
Shara Prophet
Um, I would have to say the worst advice was to post every single day and to make video content every single day.
05:40.82
Shara Prophet
And I did take that advice. And, um and um you know, what it did work. It did work. It did bring in more money and more visibility, but it didn’t work for my style of creation.
05:58.49
Shara Prophet
You know, the way I create, the way my energy needs to be used in order for it to truly be sustainable.
05:59.01
Lorie Jones
Mm-hmm. Mm-hmm.
06:05.34
Shara Prophet
And I was burnt out. And when I got burned out, I would drop out and I would drop out for weeks and that would cause lulls in my business.
06:17.08
Shara Prophet
So that was not the best advice for me. Now, it wasn’t that it was bad advice. It was just, wasn’t the best advice for me because that works for some people, some people that they, they go hard and they can push hard because that’s their, that’s the way that they’re built is the way that their energy works for them. And then there’s those of us who need to have more space in between creating, you know, we can do it once a week or batch record, and then you need to have the rest of the time. So I had to learn how to balance that out. So I think that that was probably the worst thing because it did, it did, it, it it caused a lot of
06:57.08
Shara Prophet
problems health wise and in my business. Um, yeah, I would have to say that’s the, that’s the one thing.
07:05.13
Lorie Jones
it’s It’s really interesting because you talk about that like it wouldn’t be bad advice for somebody else. Somebody else, that’s the way they work. and And those people that were giving you that advice were probably coming from somewhere that it worked for them and it worked really well for them or they had heard that it should work for people. So I think it’s really important to look at things and look at the advice that you get and understand whether it’s good advice for you.
07:31.96
Lorie Jones
or for somebody else. So I like the way you put that. That wasn’t good advice for me.
07:36.53
Shara Prophet
Right.
07:38.97
Lorie Jones
What about a do-over? If you had to kind of go back and you think of a situation, i can think of a bunch in my life where I’m like, oh my gosh, I know so much more now. I wish I could go back and do that again because I know exactly how I do it this time.
07:55.03
Shara Prophet
Yeah. Oh yeah. Oh my goodness. I think if I had a do over, I would have probably, I think I would have probably not bootstrapped my business so much because I drained everything, you know, you know, and, and a lot of the investments were not the best investments, you know? Um, but you, I got so excited, you know, i was so excited and so passionate, you know, like, Oh my God, this is, I love this. I want this thing to work.
08:33.11
Shara Prophet
And so i you know, Maxed my credit cards out. I drained my savings. I, you know, emptied my 401k to pour into my business. And instead of i didn’t have like a plan.
08:48.60
Shara Prophet
I was just so excited about it. I’m like, oh, yes, you’re the person that’s going to market for me. I’m going to pay you twenty five hundred dollars a month. on top of the ad cost and and things like that.
09:00.10
Shara Prophet
um You know, oh my goodness, yes, your idea is fantastic for me. I’m gonna pay you $20,000 for your course and invest in this, you know? And again, those things worked for other people because of whatever reason, but I know for me, I didn’t have a plan.
09:10.45
Lorie Jones
Mm-hmm.
09:18.88
Shara Prophet
I didn’t have a strategic plan. So if I had to had to do it over again, um had a business plan, but I didn’t have a strategy. Does that make sense?
09:29.16
Shara Prophet
Like, oh, this is the overall, like, this is what it’s going to look like.
09:29.63
Lorie Jones
Mm-hmm.
09:32.64
Shara Prophet
But A, B, C, D, you know, one A, one B, one C. I didn’t have that. And, you know, this is over a decade ago.
09:40.99
Lorie Jones
Yeah.
09:42.81
Shara Prophet
But um yeah, I think the strategy would have been more in place if had to do it over
09:49.78
Lorie Jones
I think that’s so important, um Shara, is that you, you there is no, i had someone tell me once, like, there’s no end of people that want to take your money when you’re in a new business. When you’re a new entrepreneur and and you’re coming out, you are a little bit scared about, oh, is this going to work? Is my idea going to fly?
10:13.23
Lorie Jones
and And you do listen to a lot of different voices who all seem to have exactly the right answer, whatever that answer is, and they all want to sell it to you. And it is really, really hard to distinguish between all the different great things out there or opportunities to which one is going to be right for you.
10:32.09
Lorie Jones
unless you have that strategic plan. i think i I can’t help it. It’s who I am. i i think of everything in terms of like financial planning and stuff like that.
10:42.76
Lorie Jones
And that is, it’s just speaking to me. I’m like, you know, you have to have this this overarching financial plan to know whether that the steps that you’re making along the road are going to be the right steps to get you where you want to go.
10:55.99
Lorie Jones
or take you off the path. And if you don’t have that big plan in the first place, and it doesn’t have to so detailed that that you, you know, so perfect that you can’t get to it, but it does need to be enough so that it keeps you on the path towards where you want to go because you can so easily get distracted.
11:06.24
Shara Prophet
Right.
11:17.06
Shara Prophet
Oh, yes. So easily. It’s like everything, everything matters and everything needs to happen right now, you know? And it was just like, Ooh, yeah.
11:28.09
Shara Prophet
So no regrets, but that if I, if I got a chance to do it over again, that’s what I would do for sure.
11:33.53
Lorie Jones
Yeah. Yeah. I find that interesting. There are things that, you know, as I was working in in my journey and my life and my entrepreneurship, there are those changes I would go back and do again.
11:36.62
Shara Prophet
Yeah.
11:46.14
Lorie Jones
and I would do a little bit differently this time. So i like that i like that we can kind of examine those. and see what what did and didn’t work. And it’s not to say that if we went back with the same information, we’d do the same thing.
11:59.26
Lorie Jones
But man, i would love to, someone asked me one time, they’re like, okay, if you could go back 20 years ago, what decision would you make different? And I’d be like, I’d buy Apple. but
12:08.44
Shara Prophet
Oh my goodness, yeah. Oh yeah.
12:10.46
Lorie Jones
Like a hundred percent. And they just laughed at me.
12:12.22
Shara Prophet
Oh yeah.
12:13.06
Lorie Jones
and They thought that was funny.
12:14.97
Shara Prophet
Yeah.
12:15.13
Lorie Jones
So if you could high five yourself for one great past financial decision, what would that be?
12:22.15
Shara Prophet
Mm-hmm. It’s a good one. I would have to say um
12:32.86
Shara Prophet
passed up on a and i ah an opportunity that I was like this close to saying yes to and it was a sizable investment.
12:46.33
Shara Prophet
And i was like, you know what, I’m going to go ahead and do this because I think it’ll be a good idea. And right before i was getting ready to do it, I got some information about the person who was making the offer and It was like, oh, I don’t, this is not going to be good.
13:08.82
Shara Prophet
Like, this is not something that I need to do. And it was like this little bird just came and did and I was just like, oh, okay, thank you. I needed to, I needed to hear that because I was already on the fence, but it was a, it sounded like a great opportunity, but had I done that, I would have, I would have incurred a great loss.
13:29.53
Shara Prophet
um So I would have to say that was one of the best financial decisions that I could have made.
13:29.67
Lorie Jones
Yeah.
13:35.13
Shara Prophet
Um, because sometimes what you don’t do is the, the right choice is the best thing for you. So that’s, that’s the most recent thing that I can think of. Um, in the past I did, um, I made some wise investments in the past and, um,
13:44.41
Lorie Jones
yeah
13:54.26
Shara Prophet
strictly off of intuition. I had no idea what I was doing, but I did. I was just like, this looks like something that would grow. And it did grow. um And I was grateful for that because it it has it has been doing pretty well for me. And um again, that was just following intuition. i am not an investment expert at all. I am learning more about that now. I’m i’m actually training and in in in a class to teach me more about that.
14:23.99
Shara Prophet
um But I would have to say that was a really good one. And that did I did that a long time ago. i was pretty young too when I did it. And I was just like, I’m just going to put some money here and see what happens. And it did very well for me.
14:35.90
Shara Prophet
So yeah.
14:37.53
Lorie Jones
Yeah, that’s good. I’m always trying to convince younger people. I’m like, you’ve got the value of time, you know, and all of that time that you have to invest.
14:43.80
Shara Prophet
Yes.
14:47.61
Lorie Jones
So, um so start now, you know, when I talk to him about 401ks and stuff like that. So yeah, I think that’s important. What, um what scared you the most sure when you started your career? did And does it still scare you?
15:04.47
Shara Prophet
Okay, well, what scared me the most um was actually, and I didn’t realize this until I had to do, so I did some deeper digging. um the i had the fear of success.
15:19.22
Shara Prophet
And I think most people have that they think is the fear of failure, but really most of the time is the fear of success. And I didn’t even realize that I, that was the problem. I was like, no, I’m not afraid of success. Who doesn’t want to be successful?
15:37.66
Shara Prophet
But I think what scared me the most was, um losing freedom, losing my freedom, like being so successful that I had to be at this place and do this and do that and became ah like a slave to a time clock.
15:56.67
Lorie Jones
Mm-hmm.
15:56.76
Shara Prophet
And that was the real fear for me. um And I had to learn how to be very, again, going to use that word strategic about how I wanted my days to look um and strategic about You know, i don’t need to see 30 clients a week, you know, and that caused me to have to totally like reform my business model, um, and raise my prices and create programs and services and products that, um, would.
16:34.26
Shara Prophet
just bring in like that residual income so that I’m not always having to trade my time for dollars because that was the fear underneath it all. And that, that was my fear of success. It’s like, okay, if I get really, really good at this, you know, I want to have to keep doing this.
16:51.64
Shara Prophet
And am I always going to want to keep doing this? You know, how do I really want my, my life and my work and my days to look?
17:02.03
Lorie Jones
that’s It’s really interesting because as you start out on the entrepreneurial journey, you basically just take anything. You’re scrappy, you’re working hard, you know, and it’s really difficult at that stage to look into the future and say,
17:19.35
Lorie Jones
How do I want, you know, do I want to just be doing more of what I’m doing today? Or is there a better way? You know, i and that’s a hard, that’s a hard question to ask when you’re just trying to, you know, trying to build the business.
17:30.07
Shara Prophet
Yeah.
17:40.44
Shara Prophet
Yeah, it really is. It’s it’s a very difficult question. um And, you know, it that question came a lot later for me, you know, um as it was growing up, i just like I’m getting tired, you know, because, again, I had to honor my energy and the way I work.
17:58.74
Shara Prophet
and and the way I create. And um I know my human design, I’m not sure if you’re ah familiar with human design, but my human design is the projector.
18:11.90
Shara Prophet
And so the projector is the and I’m like, oh my God, this is me so much. Like is the person who, you know, cannot do the nine to five thing. You know, they have to,
18:26.40
Shara Prophet
working blocks, you know, like, okay, I’m doing this creative project. I can pour into this, and then but then I need to like sit back and breathe for a moment and um and just honor my flow and honor the way I do things. And so once I came into that understanding, ah was able to better kind of just rewrite my narrative and rewrite the way I wanted my money story to look. um and how I wanted my business to look at how i wanted to show up.
19:02.41
Lorie Jones
I like that. I like that thought of design and and designing a life that you want.
19:08.10
Shara Prophet
Yes.
19:08.79
Lorie Jones
Yeah, planning, designing. Those are two words I like a lot, I guess.
19:14.20
Shara Prophet
Yes.
19:15.54
Lorie Jones
what What about unique challenges along your path? Did you face any unique challenges because you were a woman?
19:23.61
Shara Prophet
Yes, I did. And, and oddly enough, um, I faced those challenges with other women.
19:32.22
Lorie Jones
Okay, tell me about that.
19:33.14
Shara Prophet
Um, yeah, um, i again invested, i invested a lot of money into my own, you know, growth and coaching and things of that nature. I’m a huge, huge advocate for coaches. I think If you don’t have one, if you don’t have a mentor or a coach, you need to get one, a good one, you know, but be choose wisely.
19:54.14
Shara Prophet
Um, um, and so the challenge that I came up against was, um, working with people who loved the work that I did, you know, were very excited about the work that I did.
20:11.92
Shara Prophet
My work was very different, you know, um However, there was also a little bit of competition and resentment there as well.
20:20.97
Lorie Jones
Mm-hmm.
20:21.25
Shara Prophet
as well And, um you know, i won’t go into super detail, but just long story short, there were a lot of things that happened um dealing with a certain group of women who did a lot to um basically, you know, stop my business and and do some things that were that you would never think that to do to another person. Um, but i am also very grateful for that situation because it totally shifted my track.
21:00.76
Shara Prophet
You know, I was heading down this one track and that track was me being overworked and burned out. And, you know, even though things were working well and going well, um,
21:07.09
Lorie Jones
Mm-hmm.
21:12.12
Shara Prophet
on top of me being overworked and burned out, I was attracting this energy to me that basically reflected how I was feeling on the inside. You know, let’s burn you out.
21:26.50
Shara Prophet
Let’s make you work harder by doing this thing and turning the pressure up on you. um And I always say, you know, for me, I’ll speak for me. I’ll always say that whatever it is that I need to do my subconscious is always going to create an outer experience that kind of turns up the pressure and pushes me to do the thing that I’m afraid to do, but that I’ve ignored doing for so long. And sometimes that pressure is not pleasant. And sometimes it’s, it’s messy and murky and painful. Um,
22:08.73
Shara Prophet
So I’m grateful for everything that happened. I’m grateful for those people who are one of my best teachers, you know, um and going through that situation because it really made me say,
22:23.10
Shara Prophet
okay we’ve got to shift gears here. We’ve got to do something different because this whole thing, it just brought other things up to the surface for me. It wasn’t like, oh, I’m blaming you. Bad, bad ladies did this to me. It was like, why is this happening right now?
22:40.63
Lorie Jones
Mm-hmm.
22:40.66
Shara Prophet
um And yeah, so as a as a woman who shows up passionate, um enthusiastic, creative, caring, kind, vibrant, feisty, fun, it can be intimidating.
23:01.37
Shara Prophet
to other people who maybe feel like they don’t possess those things, but I thought they possessed those things, which is the reason why I decided to connect with them. Cause I thought that these would go, guys are amazing. I love the energy here, you know?
23:12.56
Lorie Jones
Thank you.
23:13.71
Shara Prophet
So I saw something in them they couldn’t see in themselves. um And then they saw, they saw something in me they could not see in themselves. So that’s, that’s kind of where that’s what happened there.
23:26.81
Shara Prophet
um But in the, in the end, everything worked out exactly the way it needed to for me, you know, and my business.
23:37.34
Lorie Jones
I think it’s interesting that you were talking about like attracting the kind of what you’re putting out there. You know, if you if you do go into that overwork, overwhelm place where you don’t have any boundaries and you find yourself surrounded by people that also are are in overwork, overwhelm without boundaries, then
23:52.26
Shara Prophet
Mm-hmm.
23:59.13
Lorie Jones
it It just perpetuates the cycle. But if you can find those people, the people that you want to be, because we don’t want to be overworked, overwhelmed and bad at boundaries, right?
24:09.57
Shara Prophet
No, no.
24:09.98
Lorie Jones
we want to be We want to be, you know, good at what we’re doing and put enough energy into that to do it really well, but also have energy left over for ourselves. And I think it’s important that we find the people that are doing those things and exemplifying that and learn from them.
24:29.05
Shara Prophet
Absolutely. 100%. And to remember, you know, to remember that everyone is your teacher. you no matter what is going on.
24:41.23
Shara Prophet
um And if we are able to to look at those situations and instead of saying, oh, why is this happening to me?
24:41.51
Lorie Jones
Yeah.
24:49.63
Shara Prophet
And then you can say, okay, what is here? What is this trying to tell me? Something, is some information is trying to come up right now and I can either spiral out and lose myself in the the thing that’s happening right now or I can alchemize it. And I call myself an alchemist because I know how to turn, you know, dirt and into gold dust, you know? So, um yeah.
25:21.26
Shara Prophet
Yeah.
25:21.91
Lorie Jones
I like that. And, and I did find myself at one point in a place where I was just, um I wasn’t growing, i wasn’t moving forward. And I had to ask, well, am I, am i in some way responsible for this?
25:37.02
Lorie Jones
And, and you do find out much, a hard lesson that yeah, sometimes you are, sometimes you do need to change your circumstances in order to be around people that that help you work and be better. i like that.
25:50.97
Shara Prophet
Yeah.
25:51.21
Lorie Jones
That’s a really interesting thought and something to think on. um Sher, what is the thing you are most proud of?
26:00.26
Shara Prophet
The thing that I am most proud of is
26:06.14
Shara Prophet
Hmm.

It’s a lot of things that I’m proud of, but I think the thing that I’m most proud of is my ability to stay, to keep my enthusiasm about what I’m doing and about life in general.
26:27.13
Shara Prophet
um My life is amazing. I love it. And i think I’m proud that I’m able to say that every day. And that I’m able to actually feel it and not just say it and not just say, oh, I’m just saying this, you know, just to boost myself up. No, I actually feel like that. and And it does not matter how much money is in the bank. It doesn’t matter what’s going on in my life. If things are challenging or what have you, I’m so proud that I have the awareness and the tool to keep me in alignment with that feeling of man.
27:04.09
Shara Prophet
Can life get better than this? Can it be better than this?
27:07.06
Lorie Jones
if
27:07.38
Shara Prophet
Show me if the if it can get better than this, then show me. So that’s the thing that I’m most proud of, of the tool and the awareness to stay in that mindset, no matter what’s going on.
27:11.16
Lorie Jones
Yeah.
27:19.48
Shara Prophet
Because I get to, things happen, right?
27:19.93
Lorie Jones
I love it.
27:21.40
Shara Prophet
Life is not, life is not like, unicorns and peaches and cream every day. But I think it’s important to remember that everything’s temporary, things change constantly, and I can shift the way I feel about a thing.
27:29.62
Lorie Jones
Yeah.
27:40.18
Shara Prophet
um And once I’ve shifted the way I feel about it, I end up shifting the entire dynamic of what’s going on. And it just ends up kind of reforming into this like beautiful thing anyways.
27:53.82
Shara Prophet
So, yeah. That’s what i’m proud of.
27:55.54
Lorie Jones
I like that. I have a particular client that just has the best, most positive attitude about everything in life. And she’s been dealt some hard things. And she always comes out, you know, scrappy.
28:08.47
Lorie Jones
And I love talking to her. In fact, sometimes I’ll call her just to chat with her because because I need some of that positivity in my life, right?
28:17.19
Shara Prophet
Yeah.
28:20.15
Shara Prophet
Absolutely. got to surround yourself with people who can And I find that the people who have had the the hardest times in life are the ones that can really stay there, you know, because it’s like, look, I survived all of that.
28:35.02
Shara Prophet
I’m here right now. Like, let me just luxuriate in this now moment where everything is peaceful and quiet and beautiful, regardless of what’s happening in the world.
28:47.54
Shara Prophet
So, yeah, it’s good.
28:49.35
Lorie Jones
I like that.
28:49.94
Shara Prophet
Yeah.
28:51.16
Lorie Jones
Any advice for a young lady who is just kind of starting down this path that you’re successful at that would help her be successful like you?
29:01.43
Shara Prophet
I would say definitely do your own inner work as you’re as you’re going, you know, as you’re helping others, as you’re building your business, never forget that you are the designer, the architect, and whatever you’re building is going to be a reflection of what’s happening inside of you.
29:10.47
Lorie Jones
Thank you.
29:27.19
Shara Prophet
So make sure that you’re always taking time to sit with yourself, ask yourself the right questions, ask yourself the hard questions and be honest with yourself, you know, and and and learn how to connect the dots to whatever potential challenge you’re having or or blockage that you might you feel like you may be coming up against.
29:40.61
Lorie Jones
Mm-hmm.
29:53.78
Shara Prophet
learn how to connect the dots to the point of origin of that, because that’s where you’re going to find the sweet spot and start to um understand it on a different level. And then that’s where you find the power in changing it.
30:06.65
Shara Prophet
So that would be my my biggest advice. always Always be doing your inner work. Yeah.
30:13.27
Lorie Jones
Yeah, something that’s easy to forget too when you’re so busy with all the chaos surrounding you and putting out the fires all the time and being a superhero.
30:24.37
Lorie Jones
Yeah, I like that. Don’t forget you. like Maybe put on your own oxygen mask first, right?
30:29.72
Shara Prophet
That’s right. Absolutely. Yes.
30:33.72
Lorie Jones
Well, thank you so, so much for your time today and for sharing your experience and sharing your story. If I have a young lady who wants to get in touch with you and ask some more questions or dig a little bit deeper, how does she do that?
30:47.61

30:58.94
